Making Atrocity Prevention Effective

On 26 March 2018, the Columbia Global Policy Initiative and the Stanley Foundation held a half-day event on Making Atrocity Prevention Effective, together with the UN Office on Genocide Prevention and the Responsibility to Protect (R2P).

Experts in the field of atrocity prevention, including UN Special Adviser on R2P Mr. Ivan Ŝimonović; Program Manager at the Swiss Task Force Dealing with the Past and Prevention of Atrocities Ms. Sabrina Büchler; Deputy Executive Director of the Global Centre for R2P Ms. Savita Pawnday; and Director of the Asia Pacific Centre for R2P, Prof. Alex Bellamy, discussed lessons learned emerging from practice and from case studies.
