The play “Breaking the Silence” to tour Cambodia, carrying a message of reconciliation

15 January 2019
A play that premiered ten years ago in Cambodia is making a return in 2019, aimed at promoting understanding and reconciliation.

“Breaking the Silence” is based on testimonies of both victims and perpetrators of the Khmer Rouge regime, collected by the Documentation Center of Cambodia. The play, which features the original cast of five actors, a singer, a classical Cambodian dancer and a musician, acts as a “reconciliation forum [and] a history classroom”. Further images of the opening night, which took place on 11 January, can be found here.
