Former rebels of the FARC in Colombia have asked for forgiveness for kidnappings of politicians, soldiers and civilians they perpetrated during the civil war.

Eleven former combatants offered the first joint, written testimony outlining the guerrilla army’s responsibility in kidnappings to the Special Jurisdiction for Peace (JEP), the extrajudicial court tasked with investigating, judging and handing out sentences for the most serious war crimes.

The GAAMAC Africa Working Group (AWG) will convene its first regional forum on the 13 and 14 of September 2023 in Abidjan, Ivory Coast. The forum is organized by the African Coordination of Human Rights for the Armed Forces (CADHA) with the support of the Global Action Against Mass Atrocities Crimes (GAAMAC).
