The young Ethiopians working for peace

In Ethiopia, around 130 “peace ambassadors” are working alongside elders and government officials on improving community relations after inter-ethnic violence took hold of the region of West Gujiin 2018.

These young volunteers hold meetings and workshops in villages, hoping to restore trust between the Gedeo and Guji. Some of the activities include organising inter-ethnic football games and church choirs. Building trust will be a long road, and “beneath the surface, the peace here is a fragile one”.
