The project is documenting current efforts of state and non-state actors in the region in dealing with the issue of hate speech and intolerance at home. It will produce recommendations for strengthening efforts to prevent hate speech, discrimination and incitement to violence by accounting for the role of legal and institutional mechanisms across the region, and detailed case studies on the role of civil society actors in promoting tolerance and reconciliation. The report will present three in-depth case-studies from the Philippines, Myanmar, and India, for which fieldwork is currently underway.
