AIPR has developed a Training Resource Manual for Genocide and Mass Atrocity Prevention in the Great Lakes Region of Africa designed to provide guidance and insight into the nature and practice of prevention to all relevant actors in the field. This Manual was created following a baseline analysis conducted by the AIPR Africa Programs staff assessing the existing capacity in the Great Lakes Region to prevent genocide and other mass atrocities. The information gathered in this assessment directly informed the design of the Manual to ensure that it responds to the areas of greatest need as identified by those working in the field of prevention.
This Training Resource Manual provides a diverse range of resources that span from the roles of the state and civil society in prevention, to instruments of early warning and transitional justice, to thematic areas such as the prevention of electoral and resource scarcity related violence.
The event will feature opening remarks by AIPR’s Africa Programs New York Liaison Jack Mayerhofer, followed by Owen Pell of White & Case, AIPR’s Academic Programs Director Dr. James Waller, and the Africa Programs Director at AIPR, Dr. Ashad Sentongo.
