Media engagement and advocacy play an important role in countries undergoing transitional justice processes. In addition to shining a light on prominent perpetrators and issues of accountability, media can also provide and promote platforms for victims and survivors, humanizing stigmatized people and showing the diversity and depth of their stories.
Conducted in collaboration with the Coalition’s Global Initiative for Justice, Truth and Reconciliation, this webinar will offer examples from Africa and Latin America, among other regions, of how Sites of Conscience can work with media outlets to make what can be cumbersome political and legal processes more accessible to local communities. The session will also provide strategies for navigating security concerns and press restrictions.
