The Global Justice Center (GJC) is a team of creative feminists using international law to achieve gender equality and dismantle systems of oppression. GJC envisions a gender-equal world where every person lives free from violence, has full bodily autonomy, and has the power to access justice to protect and promote their human rights.
Mass atrocity crimes have always been carried out along gendered lines, punctuated by cultural beliefs and prejudices about what it means to be a man or woman in a particular society. However, both prevention and accountability efforts have historically prioritized only the experiences of men and boys. GJC aims to ensure that individuals and States are held accountable for the commission of sexual and gender-based atrocity crimes, and that international justice and accountability frameworks adopt gendered perspectives in order to provide justice for all victims of atrocity crimes.
“By becoming a member of GAAMAC, GJC has been able to connect with leaders in the mass atrocity field around the world and forge new relationships as we fight to ensure gender justice in international accountability efforts.”
