UN Security Council to hold an open debate on transitional justice

On 13 February 2020, the Security Council will hold a debate on “transitional justice in conflict and post-conflict situations” under the peacebuilding and sustaining peace agenda item.

The meeting was initiated by Belgium who took over the Presidency of the Security Council for one month. It will be presided by the country’s Foreign Minister Philippe Goffin, in the presence of several experts and key witnesses.

This is the first time the Council holds a thematic meeting on transitional justice. Read more here.
