European Centre for the Responsibility to Protect

Year of joining GAAMAC: 2022

The European Centre for the Responsibility to Protect (ECR2P) is an academic institution dedicated to advancing mass atrocity prevention through research, education, training, and policy dialogue.

It was launched in December 2016 and is based in the School of Politics and International Studies at the University of Leeds. Our main goal is to enhance research capacity to tackle mass atrocity prevention as one of the most urgent and demanding global challenges of our times.

ECR2P’s members provide research-led knowledge aimed at shaping and informing discussions over mass atrocity prevention. They also teach a large number of undergraduates and post-graduates on this theme and share GAAMAC’s commitment to education.

We view GAAMAC as an extremely important platform for discussion, dialogue and dissemination on the practice of prevention. With this in mind, we would like to contribute to this platform, for example, by disseminating research findings. We would also like to provide support in furthering the stated goal of improving mass atrocity prevention.”
