About the event

GAAMAC Africa Working Group, under the leadership of CADHA, organised the first Regional Forum in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire on 13 and 14 September 2023. The forum was preceded by awareness-raising events targeting the armed and security forces, members of parliament and civil society in an aim at increasing the prevention capacity in Côte d’Ivoire.

The forum provided a space for dialogue and the exchange of good practices and lessons learned and counted on the participation of key players and experts in the field of atrocity prevention in Africa. In two days, it convened over 50 participants and benefited from the expertise and experience of various ministries of the Côte d’Ivoire government, members of the Assembly and Senate and civil society. Speakers came from eight countries of four sub-regions, representing governments, international organizations, national institutions, academia and civil society. Among 15 speakers, seven were women (47%).
